My name is Amber Bourgeois, and I’m so excited to be joining the Ellis Eagles as Assistant Principal! I grew up in Pensacola, FL, and I moved to Colorado in 2012. I went to undergrad at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, where I earned my B.S. Early Childhood Education and Development. I attended grad school at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, where I earned my M.A. in Early Childhood/Elementary Education Curriculum and Instruction. At the University of Denver,  I also earned my Educational Leadership and Policy Studies certification through the Ritchie Program. This will be my 15th year in education and 11th year in DPS. I began my career as a 1st Grade teacher in Birmingham, AL. Since then, I’ve taught ECE, Kindergarten, 2nd Grade, and Math Intervention. I have also served school communities as a Senior Team Lead and Principal Resident for 9 years.

I live in Denver with my Great Dane, Violet. I enjoy spending time outside when the weather is nice. You can often find Violet and I at Cherry Creek State Park on the weekends. I love to cook and bake and try new foods! To unwind I enjoy walking my dog, exercising and reading mystery novels. I look forward to getting to know the Ellis community and working with each and every Ellis Eagle!
