Ellis Elementary School is named for Douglas B. Ellis, a man deeply loved by children and his associates. He was proud to be a teacher and gave loyal allegiance to his profession. Ellis Elementary School opened December 3, 1956 and was built to accommodate 630 pupils.
Mr. Douglas Ellis was born in Denver on February 27, 1897. He received his elementary and secondary education in the Denver Public Schools. He obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree at the Colorado Agricultural and Mechanical College and his Master of Arts Degree at the University of Denver. Following service in World War I he studied at the University of Lyon in France. In 1923 he came to Denver and taught at Stevens Elementary School and Cole Junior High School. He was the Boys’ Advisor at Baker and Horace Mann Junior High Schools. In 1937 he was appointed Principal at Eagleton School and continued to serve in this capacity at Swansea-Elyria, Franklin Central and Greenlee Schools. He died in July 1955.
Douglas B. Ellis was understanding, kind, and thoughtful. His interest in the welfare and success of his pupils and those who worked with him was lasting and genuine.

ولد السيد دوغلاس الس في مدينة دنفر يوم 27, فبراير 1897. وقد تحصل على التعليم الابتدائي والإعدادي في مدارس دنفر العامة. وتحصل على درجة البكالوريوس في العلوم من كلية الزراعة والميكانيكا كولورادو ودرجة الماجستير في الفنون من جامعة دنفر. بعد تأديته الخدمة في الحرب العالمية الأولى قام بالدراسة بجامعة ليون بفرنسا. في السنة 1923 عاد الى دنفر ليقوم بالتدريس في مدرسة ستيفنس الإبتدائية ومدرسة كول الثانوية المتوسطة. وقد كان مرشدا وموجها للأولاد بمدرسة بيكر وهورس مان الثانوية المتوسطة.
في السنة 1937 تم تعيينه موجها بمدرسة ايغلتون وقد استمر في أداء هذا الدور في كل من مدارس سوانسي-إليريا, فرانكلين المركزية و غرينلي. وقد توفي في يوليو 1955.
كان دوغلاس بي الس متفهما, طيبا ووقورا. حرصه على مصلحة ونجاح طلابه والعاملين معه كان مخلصا و دؤوبا.
