Parents will receive warning letters when they miss any of the following:
Students will be unregistered from school and lost their spots when they miss any of the following:
**Extenuating circumstances must be approved in advance by the principal
**Parents will sign an Attendance Contract at the beginning of each school year
Regular and on time school attendance is critical to the educational success of your child. Patterns of chronic absenteeism and tardiness that begin as early as Kindergarten have a detrimental effect on the likelihood that your child will graduate from high school.
For this reason, we at Ellis take the attendance of all of our students very seriously. Extended travel for ANY reason during the school year will not be excused and your student will be unenrolled after being absent for ten consecutive days.
The school day ends at Ellis Elementary at 3 p.m. All students need to be picked up by 3:15 p.m. at their classroom’s designated pick up location (maps are provided on the first day of school). Teachers leave for the day at 3:15 p.m. and our office staff are the only ones available to supervise students from 3:15 to 3:30 p.m. Our office closes at 3:30 p.m. every day without exception. There is NO SUPERVISION for students after 3:30 p.m.
We do offer an after school program through Discovery Link that runs until 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and is available for all students in grades kinder-fifth.
Any absence from school of 3 or more days must be approved by the principal.
Any student who leaves early four or more times in a trimester will not receive a perfect attendance award, even if the student did not miss any full days of school during that period.
School starts at 7:45 a.m. with breakfast being served in the classroom. Students may not come to school before 7:45 a.m. unless they are participating in our before and after care program- Springboard. The school is not open to students before 7:45 a.m.
School ends at 3 p.m. Students are picked up outside. Any students not picked up by 3:15 p.m. will be brought to the office. Parents picking up from the office must show identification. Students may not wait to be picked up by Merrill Middle School students.
