As a new person to Ellis, I am thrilled to be here this year. I am currently in my 19th year of teaching with this being the 17th year in Denver Public Schools. My first few years of teaching were in Atlanta,
Georgia and Washington, D.C. Over the years I have taught grades 2 – 5
and 7, as well as ESL resource classes, GT/Challenge classes and HGT
math classes. This year as Math/Science Facilitator,
I will be working with teachers to implement the revised edition of the
EveryDay Mathematics Curriculum. In my role as Intervention
Specialist, I will be coordinating interventions for the RtI model at
Ellis. On the weekends you can find me in the
mountains skiing or biking or at home curled up with a good book like
The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. I have a husband, two boys and a
dog named Potter.
This is my first year working at this wonderful school. I help in the
office and also am the health paraprofessional. For the past four
years, I have been actively involved in the Ellis PTA, which is a great
team of parents, grandparents, teachers, and staff working together for
the students at Ellis.
I have two kids – one still at Ellis and
another in 6th grade (a former Ellis student), and my husband was also
an Ellis student. This school has quite a history with my family.
