Ellis Elementary Receives $106,000 Grant
Denver, CO - Ellis Elementary School has been awarded a grant from the JFM Foundation for $106,000. This is the second year the JFM Foundation has partnered with Ellis to make a difference in the learning lives of our students. This year, Ellis will use the funds to purchase 30 new computers to give our computer lab a much-needed face-lift. Additionally, monies will be used to provide extensive technology training for all classroom teachers. Our goal is to improve technology literacy for staff and students in order to prepare our students for the 21st century. Other grant funds (LOAS) will provide technology programs for students both before and after school this year. The Peña Family Foundation has also donated money for 5 new computers so that we can extend the Open World Learning (OWL) after-school technology and enrichment program to serve even more students. The JFM Foundation grant will also be used to fund two half-time positions: an Interventionist who will work with small groups in targeted instruction at the primary level, and an additional ESL Resource Teacher to work with our ELL students. Principal Nguyen says, “Ellis is thrilled to be working with the JFM Foundation and the Peña Family to help Ellis strive for excellence! Together, we all make a difference. Building a Better Tomorrow Through Learning Communities: Whatever It Takes, Our Kids Are Worth It!” Ellis is located at 1651 S. Dahlia Street.
