With 25 different languages spoken at Ellis, May 3, 2007 is truly a celebration of cultures.  It is also a culmination of the work students have done in their classrooms.  Each classroom chooses a country to study.   On the morning of May 3, 2007 each primary classroom pairs up with an intermediate classroom to present what they have learned via an original game, play, song or story.  Last year while floating down the Nile a second grade class learned about Egypt. The game was designed by their 5th grade buddies.

At 12:30 P.M., students, parents, and members of the community will gather on our new Learning Landscape to begin a parade around the block.  This year the parade will be lead by a Scottish Bagpiper. Many students dress in their country's traditional costumes. Then it's back to school for tasting International Cuisine under our colorful World Bazaar Tents, dancing folk dances, singing folk songs, watching International Entertainment, playing international games and making art.  There will also be an opportunity to see displays about the countries the students studied. It is a fun afternoon and a great opportunity to observe children from all over the world celebrating their uniqueness.
