I am currently in my twenty-fifth year of teaching. Twenty-three of
those years have been at Ellis. Ten of the years, I taught special
education, and the other years have been in first, second, and third
grade. I am an ELA-E teacher which means I have the awesome privilege of having
students from various countries. I like the diversity of our school. I
feel that Ellis prepares the students to be accepting of all cultures
as this prepares them for the "real world".
The
best part of my job is watching my students grow academically. I see
unbelieveable growth when I loop with my class. It's a blessing to have
these great little people for two years.
I have served on many committees. I continue serve as a supervising
teacher for student teachers that come from the colleges and
universities. In 2003, I was awarded, Denver Teacher of Year.
I have many favorite children's book, but I really enjoy reading
books written by Dr. William Cosby, Wil Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith,
Donald Crews, Eric Carle and many more.
