Message from the Principal

Greetings to the Ellis Community,

Welcome back to another exciting school year filled with opportunities to learn and to have fun! I hope everyone had a relaxing summer vacation and that we are all ready to hit the ground running with rigorous academics and meaningful opportunities for social emotional learning.

This year, we will be emphasizing character education along with deepening our implementation of the Colorado Academic Standards. We are excited about new opportunities like quarterly Character Strength Assemblies, Student Leadership, the new Family and Community Partnerships team and implementing our Strategic Plan.

The Instructional Leadership Team worked hard this summer digging into our school wide data to determine our highest priority teaching and learning strategies to improve student outcomes. Through data based decision making, our ILT has chosen to focus on Early Literacy skills and Academic Language Development through Writing. We have also decided to continue with deeper implementation of our Character Strengths program. The Strategic Plan maps out these focus areas and can be found on the Ellis website.

As always, our partnerships with parents and the community will help us achieve great gains for our students. We look forward to working closely with you this year. Please stop by and see for yourself how staff, students, families and community members are living our Ellis Touchstone:

At Ellis we soar toward excellence in academics and character development.
We celebrate our mistakes because that is when we do our best learning.
We value our diversity because we believe it makes us a stronger community.
Every child has the right to define, pursue and achieve their dreams and we are
committed to supporting each other to make that a reality for every student at Ellis.
