Ellis Elementary School Attendance Policy

Regular and on time school attendance is critical to the educational success of your child. Patterns of chronic absenteeism and tardiness that begin as early as Kindergarten have a detrimental effect on the likelihood that your child will graduate from high school.

For this reason, we at Ellis take the attendance of all of our students very seriously.  Extended travel for ANY reason during the school year will not be excused and your student will be unenrolled after being absent for ten consecutive days.

Please see our policy below:

  • Our attendance team will begin to work with a family after three unexcused absences or tardies or after five excused absences or tardies within the same trimester (trimester one: 08/20-11/09, trimester two:11/12-02/22 & trimester three: 02/25-05/31)
    • Excused absences and tardies include illness or necessary medical appointments, family medical emergencies, one time transportation related issues and other rare circumstances
