The Department of Extended Learning & Community Schools offers a variety of programming for students and adults alike! Thanks to federal funding, Ellis is a 21st Century Community Learning Center, which means that all after-school programming for students and adults is completely FREE.
Discovery Link is the official DPS after-school program; it is run by DPS for DPS families. Our program is licensed by the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment, which ensures the highest standards of safety, program quality, and supervision for your students. Discovery Link is available Monday through Friday, from 3:00 p.m. to 6 p.m. Families may register their student at: www.discoverylink.dpsk12.org.
• New Families: select “School Year 2019-2020,” then “Ellis,” and search for Discovery Link. It will help to have your emergency contact information available. Registration should take less than 15 minutes.
• Returning Families: select the option for returning/current families, and you will be relocated to the SchoolCareWorks portal. Your registration will take less than 5 minutes!
After-school Enrichments are expansions of students interests and passions. Our third-party providers are rigorously screened to ensure they provide the highest quality experience for students in areas such as foreign languages, sports, dance, music, and chess, to name a few of our typical offerings. Our Enrichment classes are offered by semester: the first semester begins in September and the second semester begins at the end of January. Students do NOT need to be registered for Discovery Link in order to participate in Enrichment classes; Enrichment classes are a separate program offering. Registration for Enrichment classes will open shortly after school resumes, so stay tuned!
2GEN offerings for adult family members are coming soon! We will offer Conversational English for language learners, New-Job Readiness and Career Coaching, Self Defense for Daughters with Adults, and more.
Additionally, the Family Resource Center is now located in room 107. Please stop by for assistance in applying for Free/Reduced Lunch services, SNAP/Food Stamps, Cash Assistance, and housing or for help with resumes, college or GED courses, job searches, and online bill payment.
